Dear Family, Friends, and Kind Supporters,

It is with a saddened heart that I share some difficult news: I have been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, which has spread to my lungs and liver. This diagnosis has completely shaken my world.

About six weeks before my diagnosis, I began feeling unusually tired. I couldn’t keep on weight, and quickly lost 20 pounds. One day at work, I developed a severe and sudden stomach pain. I finished my shift, but the pain intensified through the night, reaching unbearable levels. The next day I checked into the emergency room and after extensive tests and scans I received the devastating news.

For several years I’ve been working 40 hour weeks but have been struggling to make ends meet. I have not been able to afford health insurance. Asking for help is difficult, but I truly need it right now.

I am choosing to fight — not just to survive, but to heal on every level: physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I want a second chance, starting now. A chance to take care of myself, so I can be the mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that my loved ones truly deserve.

Your generosity and support will cover:

  • 3 Weeks At The Riordan Cancer Institute in Kansas (Alternative Medical Treatments Including: Sono-Photo Therapy, Mistletoe & IV Therapy -- Note: This is a different, more affordable alternative treatment center we found) ($15k)
  • Travel and Lodging at Medical Institute ($2.2k)
  • After-Care Treatment Therapy & Caregiving ($2.5k)

Every donation, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to more time with the people I love. Even if you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.

The Challenge

This diagnosis has put a financial and emotional burden on my children Bridget and Ren, who have stepped in to support me in every possible way. But the costs of treatment, daily expenses, and the unknowns ahead are overwhelming.

This is not how I want to be remembered — as someone who burdened the ones I love. I want to fight, to heal, and to live — and I need your help to make that possible.

My Promise

This diagnosis is not the end of my story. It’s the beginning of a new one — one written with gratitude, courage, and purpose. I am committed to doing everything I can to heal and live a life that honors the love and support I’ve been given.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me.

With sincere gratitude and hope,
Sandra Nielsen (Alexandra)
