In Loving Memory of Sandra Johnson

To all my family, friends, and supporters:
On, April 29, 2015 at 2 a.m, heaven gained a beautiful angel named Sandra Johnson. Sandra was well loved and adored by many. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy of a 15 year old son Christopher. We knew her as a mother, daughter, and a friend to all. Sandra’s grace, generosity, and kindness was infectious and she could light up a room with her smile. She was my sister, my best friend, and my confidant. Although, she was my older sister, she was my “Baby.” She suffered her whole life, but the strength and love she shared with others despite her health was humbling.
Sandra endured a heavy cross she had to bear her whole life. At 6 months old, she was hospitalized and put into an incubator for unknown reasons. Her diagnosis at the time was severe asthma and tuberculosis. Twenty years ago the diagnosis was determined to be cystic fibrosis; a chronic lung disease that causes mucus to build up in the lungs, digestive tract, and other areas of the body. Her health started to deteriorate aggressively in 2008 when she had a trach (tracheostomy) procedure done. She consistenty had pneumonia and other health problems. Sandra battled cystic fibrosis heroically living life to the fullest every day.
In 2014, she spent only spent two months in her home, the rest of the year was spent living in a hospital and rehabilitation facilities. Doctors had her in an induced coma for 2 ½ weeks due to her high blood count of 44,000. A normal count would be typically 11,000.
Sandra was scheduled to come home on Saturday, April 25, 2015. But, this was under the condition that she would be on a ventilator. On Friday evening, April 24th, my mother and I spoke to Sandra over the phone. She was in good spirits. She was looking forward to finally coming home.
On Saturday, April 25th, I received a phone call that changed everything. The rehabilitation center informed me that Sandra suffered from a stroke and two seizures. One of her lungs had collapsed. Sandra went into septic shock. She was non-responsive and was rushed to the hospital. Over the course of Sandra’s last days, she suffered four additional seizures and went into multiple cardiac arrests. On Wednesday, April 29th, Sandra had another cardiac arrest. The hospital attempted to do CPR twice and could not revive her.
Due to her health, she was unable to attend her son's 8th grade graduation, because of that, one of Sandra’s goals was to watch her son Christopher graduate high school in a few years. It saddens me not to see her fulfill this wish.
Unfortunately, Sandra had no life insurance due to her health circumstances. As you know, when someone passes away , a funeral can be costly.
We miss Sandra so much and in this time of need, my family and I are asking for compassion and generosity of all kinds. Give what you can, give from the heart.
Her loss is devastating to all who knew her. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your support.
Funeral information will be released soon.
Kind Regards,
Her loving sister, Donna
