Hi. My name is Jessica. I have known Pat for the past two years. I met him through my significant other, Greg, who has worked with him for the past nine years. Pat is one of my favorite people! He is a hard working man, a man of strong faith, and a man with a heart of grace! He has been married to Sandra for 23 years and has known her since 1991. I have never met a more faithful and loving husband. Unfortunately, I have never had the opportunity to meet Sandra in person because she has been in and out of the hospital and nursing homes since I have known Pat. At 42 years old, after receiving an elective surgery with a 5% chance of complications, Sandra became that 5%. She was shortly diagnosed with Necrotizing Pancreatitis, which means part of her pancreas has died causing many health problems such as recurring infections and other medical problems. She has struggled with numerous infections and complications and remains in and out of nursing homes in order to receive physical rehabilitation and proper medical care where there is an acute problem. Recently, the health insurance decided they were no longer able to cover the cost of the nursing home and has decided to stop physical therapy and treatment, while leaving Pat with a $25,000 medical bill. Aside from the shock of the medical bill, Pat has to bring Sandra home and find nursing care to come to the house. Again, another continued medical expense.Although, I have only known Pat for a short amount of time. He has been very kind to me. He always keeps a positive outlook on life despite their circumstances. He loves his wife more than anyone I have ever known. To be so young and go through these obstacles, staying strong as a couple brings hope even through the darkest days. I have never heard Pat complain once about the care he must give everyday and the emotional toll this puts on his mind, body and heart. In fact, he still willing volunteers to help others. I recently asked him what he loved most about his wife after enduring these last two difficult years. He responded, "Her strength and her character." I asked him once how he manages through these times when his wife is away, in and out of hospitals, and he responded, "God's grace."
I have never started a go fund me page before, but I figured if I could do one small thing that could potentially help this man and his wife find hope and goodness in these challenging times, then I could return the love and joy that they still put into this world each day despite their circumstances. Thus, I am asking for help, any donations, to help pay for the unexpected medical bill of $25,000 and if possible, another $5000 to help them find and pay for home care, so Pat can begin to spend more nights with Sandra at home.
Unfortunately, this is an immediate need as Sandra comes home from the nursing home Monday. Pat will continue to work his full time job as he resumes caring for his wife. The nursing home is allowing him 30 days to come up with a way to pay the balance of $25,000 that the insurance did not cover. Pat & Sandra do not know that I have created this page for them in hopes of being able to help them financially, as I hope to be able to surprise them with the generosity of strangers.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. No donation is to small. I appreciate the time you took to read this story. May we be able to show Pat and Sandra some grace and love. All prayers are always welcome as well.
