Sandra is my little sister. Her husband, Robert (Skip) Sites recently passed away after a two-year battle with cancer. She could really use our help. She is in need of assistance to help pay for medical bills associated with his battle and treatments.
Skip was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer on March 9, 2016 as a result of years of suffering from acid reflux disease. He underwent an esophagectomy, radiation, and chemotherapy the summer after his diagnosis. The family was overjoyed to hear the words “no disease evident” a few months post-surgery. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to his doctors, the cancer had spread to his brain and by June of 2017, two large masses and several smaller ones were discovered. There was a less than 3% chance of this happening, and the cancer was very aggressive. The family was devastated, but hopeful after Skip received brain resection surgery to remove the largest tumors and then pinpointed radiation on the remaining masses. Only five short months later, another two, much larger masses appeared in Skip’s brain. He underwent a second brain resection surgery as well as full brain radiation and continued chemotherapy. The man was a fighter to say the least. He gave this everything he had, but the disease won and he died surrounded by family on June 9, 2018 at the age of 54. If you had the pleasure of knowing Skip, consider yourself a lucky one. He was charming, fun, extremely hard working, and a devoted father to both of his children. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family starting at the age of 17. He will be infinitely missed by many.
His wife Sandra, sat beside him for every appointment, every surgery, and every day of sickness and suffering. She was his ever-constant and vigilant champion. Now, while mourning the loss of her life partner of 38 years, she is facing a mountain of medical bills and expenses. Skip was always the primary financial income for the family and at this point, Sandra and her son, Bobby, are left without medical insurance and the majority of their income. While we cannot ease the pain brought on by such a loss, we can help alleviate some of the financial strain brought on by Skip’s battle with cancer.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
