Sandra Broughton’s Journey
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kathleen and I’m Sandra’s sister. On Thursday January 30th 2025, the Broughton family’s lives were completely turned upside down. She had a wonderful day at work and when she came home something was off. She sat down and couldn’t understand what her boys and Curtis were saying and she was unable to respond to them. Sandra went to go lay down and Curtis knew something wasn’t right and took her to the ER. When they arrived at ER she had two massive seizures. It was the scariest moment of Curtis’ life. This is when they coordinated flying Sandra to Fort St John by air ambulance. Curtis went home to pack and get the boys and make the 4 hour trek south to meet her at the hospital. Once she arrived at FSJ hospital she received a scan that confirmed their worst nightmare. They found a brain tumour. Without hesitation she was transferred down Vancouver General Hospital on Saturday where I met her so she wasn’t alone. Curtis and the boys arrived on Monday. The doctors didn’t want to rush to surgery right away due to the complexity of this tumour. They redid all of the scans and originally decided to do a blind needle biopsy above her temple but changed the course and decided to go in above her ear and have a visual of the tumour and get a bigger biopsy sample. They’ve sent the biopsy away and it’s expected to be 5-10 business days. With her tumour being located where it’s unsafe to remove, Sandra’s been told that chemotherapy and/or radiation will be how they will be treating it. As you know living in Fort Nelson is far away from hospitals where they can get treatment. There is a lot of travelling and appointments ahead of them to fight through this. Let’s help alleviate the stress that comes with all of this so they can focus on her getting through all of this ♥️
