More information about Sandoway Marine Park www.delrayreef.org is a 32 acre marine park being built in what today is called the DELRAY DREDGE HOLE. An area that is completely devoid of marine life. The sand has been pumped away to replenish the public beach. It is a 45’ deep dead zone. The $150,000 will be used to purchase a 240’ coastal freighter that will cleaned and prepared to be deployed 2600’ from the end of the Delray public beach! This will allow for education and research partnered with the Sandoway Discovery Center and Coastal Conservation Association of Florida’s local South Palm Beach chapter. Sandoway House Nature Center: The Sandoway Discovery Center is a community resource, providing fun, hands-on environmental education while promoting the conservation and preservation of South Florida's fragile marine and coastal ecosystems. Our programs impact students by promoting a better understanding of Sunshine State Science Standards as well as fostering caring attitudes toward the environment through STEM based classes.
