On the morning of Friday November 9th 2018, our parents and two cats were forced to evacuate our family home in Malibu. We left just as the first flames peaked from behind the mountain ridges in our backyard, not knowing the sheer destruction and devastation that would be left in their path.
Calpine was our family home of over 25 years, a labor of love and a true sanctuary for my parents . Our entire neighborhood of Malibu Park was hit first, and hit hard-- we have estimated that close to 50 of our close friends have also lost their homes, a number that we anticipate to grow. The entire community, from Neptune's Net to Malibu Canyon, is experiencing an insurmountable loss. We are heartbroken.
There are no words to express the gratitude we feel for the outpouring of love and support from our friends and families, and their friends and families. We are humbled by your generosity and offers to help.
25 years of memories certainly can't be replaced, but as two sons we want to do everything we can to help put the pieces back together for our parents, who have been left with little more than the clothes on their backs.
Any donation to help rebuild would be appreciated beyond belief.
