Hello Friends and Family,

My girlfriend Mikaela’s beautiful Mother, Sandi, is fighting a devastating case of metastatic lung cancer. For the past 3 years, Sandi has battled a rare mutation of lung cancer that has surged in its severity over the past few months.

ALK Positive lung cancer is a rare type of mutation that doctors have had difficulty effectively treating into remission.

Since Sandi’s initial diagnosis in 2017,  she has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy, has exhausted all targeted therapy options, and is currently back on chemotherapy, with little improvement. 

As mentioned, the cancer has recently exacerbated, leaving Sandi with several undiagnosed complications and regular visits to the Emergency Room for scans, abdominal paracentesis, and hydration.

Currently, Sandi is in need of a second opinion from a specialty institution that can explore new approaches and clinical trials. 

The CU Thoracic Oncology Clinic is one of the top lung cancer programs in the world and specializes in ALK Positive research, which is the rare mutation of Sandi’s cancer.

Unfortunately, a second opinion like this is not cheap and due to the progression of Sandi’s complications, Mikaela and her Dad have had to leave their jobs behind in order to fully support Sandi’s recovery.
