Sandie Vaughan's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
One of our own is going through the unimaginable right now and can use our help.
In early June, Sandie Vaughan thought she was dealing with a broken foot. After weeks of pain, multiple doctors, and no improvement, she saw a specialist who had immediately referred her to a vascular specialist. It was discovered that the pain she was experiencing was not due to the fracture in her foot, rather she had an arterial blockage in her leg. The blockage stopped the blood flow to her foot and the tissue was dying. She was admitted to the hospital where, thankfully, they were able to clear the blockage, however; permanent damage had been done. She spent a few more weeks in the hospital before being sent to a rehab facility to gain some strength before surgery. The wound care specialist at the rehab facility sent her back to the hospital last Thursday. Within 24 hours, the vascular team at the new hospital had scheduled her for surgery to amputate her foot last Friday. This past Monday, they amputated her leg from the knee down.
As you can imagine, she has a difficult road ahead with rehab and eventually learning to walk again with a prosthetic. During this time, she will remain out of work. While short-term disability helps, there are unexpected medical expenses. We’d like to be able to help and show our support.
