Sadly, on this June 8th, 2021 I must notify everyone of some changes in Sandi’s health. Unfortunately her disease has progressed rapidly to the point that it is no longer an option for a Lung Transplant. Sandi has spent the last week in Chester County Hospital. Today we ar blessed to have her home with her husband, children and Grandchildren. Her family is grateful to have wonderful Hospice nurses in their home to care for Sandi.
The money collected will be used for Sandi’s medical bills and funeral expenses. We thank everyone who has kindly donated.
At this point we are setting up a meal train for Sandi’s family. If anyone is interested in making a meal, ordering and sending a meal, etc please reach out to Lisa ([email redacted])
We are Sandi Coggins Brown’s children - Danielle Kraft, Richie Brown, Chelsea Brown. Our mother, Sandi was recently diagnosed with ILD - Interstitial Lung Disease. This disease causes scarring of the lungs. The scarring causes stiffness in the lungs which makes it difficult to breathe and get oxygen to the bloodstream. Lung damage from ILD is often irreversible and gets worse over time.
Sandi is under the care of Temple University Hospital. Her only hope is a lung transplant. She has completed preliminary testing and is now anxiously awaiting a decision. As you can imagine medical bills have been multiplying quickly. Sandi was forced to retire early due to ILD. She is no longer able to work.
Sandi spends her days in bed hooked up to oxygen full time. She struggles to move around . Even mundane tasks such as getting to the bathroom and showering are extremely difficult and becoming harder each day. Sandi’s physical abilities are diminishing. This disease has also taken a toll on her mental state. She has frequent spikes in her anxiety which are causing frequent panic attacks.
Sandi is no longer able to be alone. She’s needs help with her basic needs. She needs someone to bring her food/drinks. She is no longer able to care for the house or cook meals for her family. Her 12 year old grandson does remote school so he can be with her to get her food or whatever she may need. Her husband of 35+ years is her primary caregiver. Richard has a full-time job but is “on-call” 24/7. If she needs him he leaves work immediately. There are days when he can’t go in at all because she is too ill or they have to travel to doctor appointments at Temple University Hospital. The mental and financial stress has become overwhelming.

Our Mom’s wish is to receive a lung transplant so she can watch her grandchildren Hunter, Elijah, Sia and Ryleigh grow up to be wonderful young adults. We want to personally thank you in advance for any help you can give.
