Mini Motley Sanctuary is a safe haven for animals rescued from slaughter & traumatic beginnings. Every winter the sanctuary hits hard times and we find ourselves struggling to cover the increased costs of looking after high-needs rescue animals in the challenging weather.

In England we are facing a continuing hay shortage crisis, meaning that the cost of hay has doubled and the cost of delivering hay has also tripled due to the fuel crisis. This dramatic increase in costs is a financial burden that we couldn't have foreseen and sadly means we need to ask for help to fund our hay deliveries and sanctuary supplies.

5 heatwaves and a drought have left our fields bare of grass, so we're in need of more hay than usual to keep our rescue animals fed, happy and healthy - unfortunately doubling our usual hay deliveries!

Because of the harsh treatment some of our animals experienced before coming to the sanctuary, they have increasingly complex needs which, as they age, need more intensive care. Two of our ponies now have EMS, a metabolic condition requiring medication and regular blood tests, as well as an intensive daily maintenance plan. We believe - especially after their early trauma - that they deserve the best, kindest treatment for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately the veterinary treatment is extremely expensive, which puts extra financial pressure on the sanctuary's finances. We'd be so grateful for any donations towards these ongoing costs.

We urgently need help with paying for outstanding vet visits, medications, big winter hay deliveries and sanctuary care costs. We would be so grateful for any help or support, if you can. Thank you so much

More about us:

We are a registered CIC. We've been running our animal sanctuary for ten years. We provide forever homes for rescue horses, rescue sheep and other animals that we've saved from slaughter, abandonment, abuse and traumatic beginnings. Our residents also have additional physical, mental and emotional needs - and they find peace and rehabilitation here with us at the sanctuary.

We are a mother daughter team, running our sanctuary just the two of us. We share a deep love of animals and have a breadth of knowledge and experience of animal welfare, care and nutrition.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

Ruth, Anna & all the animals at Mini Motley Sanctuary
