Hi, my name is Mike and I'm fundraising for the Sanctuary Jamaica eco-retreat project set in the lush hills of St. Catherine, Jamaica. I was bequeathed 10 acres of absolutely beautiful rainforest/ farm land many years ago, and thought it would be an amazing opportunity to set up a retreat space where people from all walks of life can come and engage each other positively and creatively. I'm an artist/writer and chef with a deep interest in herbalism and natural health. Essentially, the Sanctuary Jamaica Project has been a life long ambition of mine to create a vibrant, artistic location that allows its residents and guests a free and open space to interact within the natural, local Jamaican environment. My intention is to build a series of small chalets and work/recreational areas within the forest, where we grow fruits and vegetables. The land is lush and very, very fruitful with all the exotic flora and fauna of the island readily available. There is a profusion of tropical herbs and beneficial medicinal plants growing there. A lovely river runs close by and the air is peaceful and cool, conducive to the relaxation of the mind, body and soul.

The funding I seek will enable me to build the infrastructure of the Sanctuary with off-grid solar and wind energy and to procure various tools, essential building materials, farm equipment and a transport vehicle suitable to the terrain. The Sanctuary land is situated in the hills of St. Catherine, a rural country area and it will be necessary for us to acquire a vehicle to transport materials and people to that region, in order to build the infrastructures of the Sanctuary.
