The Sanchez Brothers Badwater Fund

Covering 135 miles non-stop from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, CA, the STYR Labs Badwater® 135 is the most demanding and extreme running race offered anywhere on the planet. The start line is at Badwater, Death Valley, which marks the lowest elevation in North America at 280’ below sea level. The race finishes at Whitney Portal at 8,300’. Temperatures can reach 130 degrees Fahrenheit during the day making exposure, hydration and fatigue forces to be reckoned with.

The Sanchez Brothers, from St. Helena, CA, are no strangers to the extreme nature of this race.  With TWO successful finishes each, one would think they have reached the pinnacle of their running careers.  But not quite.  This year, they have both been selected to compete in the race making them the first brothers to run against each other in the Badwater 135.  History in the making!

Both Juan and Federico Sanchez must provide their own support vehicles, crew, pacers, food and hydration for the entirety of the race.  Not to mention, gas, lodging, race entry and gear.  This is as much a costly endeavor as it is a mental and physical one and this time around, the costs are double!  They are asking for the support of their community, friends and running enthusiasts to help them achieve this amazing goal… crossing the finish line together.  Please consider a small donation to help them get to the starting line on July 10, 2017!

Here is a local article in the St. Helena Star chronicling Juan and Federico's running accomplishments, passion for the sport and amazing outlook on life.
