Fazana's Kids College Support
“At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.” Maya Angelou
Fazana Saleem-Ismail passed away on June 25, after a 4-month long battle with cancer at the tender age of 47. She leaves behind her husband Jiffry and her kind, sweet, adorable children Jaazib (10) and Sanari (15). See TV news piece here
She gave so much to others and their families - and now we are asking her friends and family to help her family by making a donation to help Jaazib and Sanari go to college, for when their time comes.
As you may know, Fazana led a life of selflessness and philanthropy. She was a guardian to many other people's families and their children. Her support of homeless kids comes especially to mind. (See article here on her community work).
But another of her legacies is the "Community of Us", she unwittingly created. That's the "Community of Fazana Friends" that include people like you, from all walks of her memorable life, that she inspired. It would be beautiful if this community was able to help her two sweet kids go onto a brighter future that Fazana was working toward.
We also want to relieve pressure on brother Jiffry as he plans for a very different financial future for his family.
We have set an educational target of $50,000 which is of course a lot, but it may only be a fraction of what is needed for college. If we are fortunate enough to hit this target quickly, we hope to keep going for a higher target due to the high costs of college.
Jiffry was beyond grateful to us for considering it - this is something that is on his mind.
We hope you don't mind the forward nature of this request - Fazana just gave so much to others. We want to make sure her amazing kids have the future their Momma wanted.
We are all friends of Fazana's family, and these funds will be withdrawn by an Ismail family member, who will be added as a beneficiary of the campaign. They intend to spend these funds on the educational future of Jaazeb and Sunny.
Sincerely,
Niall Swan, Jennifer DeGracia, Vielka Garriss, Theresa Thanjan, Rakhi Datta,
