San Pedro food

The whole world has a big problem with the Coronavirus, and we all have concerns about people in the country where we are from. Many of us are also concerned about the people here in San Pedro La Laguna. We know the number one source of income here is tourism, and that just isn’t happening. It is high season, and many people who live here have lost their jobs or do not have a market to sell their goods. The situation is only going to get worse. The soonest tourism is going to pick up is next January. Most people in San Pedro do not have savings they can fall back on and do not have money for their next meal. We’ve formed a San Pedro relief group with the sole purpose of getting food to the people in San Pedro who most need it.

We have donated and are raising money to buy food that will be distributed by a native San Pedro organization called Comité de solidaridad. We understand that most of you are struggling to get by yourselves. We are asking those of you living here in San Pedro La Laguna and have a steady income or substantial savings to donate any amount of money you can afford to help feed some desperate families here. 100% of all money donated will be used to buy food for the less fortunate here in San Pedro. We have a local buyer who will buy the food for us at the best price possible. The Comité de solidaridad will identify the families in San Pedro with the most need, and distribute the food accordingly. A $20 donation can buy enough food to feed a family for two weeks. It's time we show our appreciation for our indigenous community and give back to the people who have welcomed us to their beautiful paradise.
