San Mateo Palms Apartment Fire Catastrophe

Hello! my Name is Cj Catimbang. I am one of the tenants of the San Mateo Palm Springs Fire. On Tuesday February 1st I was home for my hour lunch and I heard my mom screaming in a panic. I come out of my unit and I see my tita beth screaming in terror. You could see the her whole apartment was engulfed in smoke and flames. Luckily I was next to the fire alarm and tried to get everyone’s attention to leave the building. My mom and our Landlord Maria grabed my tita beth out of her unit and everyone started to evacuate. We are so fortunate that my tita beth smelled something funny while she was in the shower. As she went to check out the smell her couch was already burning. We were told it had something to do with the heater but unfortunately her unit was completely destroyed. If she didn’t check she could of lost her life. She had emergency funds for this kind of situation but it had burned up with the rest of her belongings and all of my Tito Edwin’s insulin was destroyed which is scary because of how serious diabetes is especially type 1 where you need to be on top of taking your medicine. This was our home for 17 to 18 years this community is so special to me and i’m so glad no one got hurt. i grew up here with My tita beth and tito edwin. They really need help to replace everything that they lost. This fundraiser was created to help them get a fresh new start.
