Dear friends of San Lorenzo High School,

I want to first thank everyone who helped spread the word and donated to last year’s fundraiser.  Together we were able to raise over $20,000! Without your help, the sports program would be almost nonexistent.

 Now for 2016…

I always get fired up this time of the year because it’s the time for giving and reflecting back on successes and failures throughout the year.  2016 is no exception but I was surprised as budgets at SLZ continue to decrease. 

I stopped by San Lorenzo High to give my annual donation and I was expecting an upbeat Rebel environment since home prices have increased substantially and the economy has been rebounding over the last several years. To my surprise, this was not the case. As a matter of fact, the school district will no longer be allowing teachers to make copies (curriculum, notes, etc.) for students because they ran out of money. When I asked Tom Longaker about the sports program he laughed and responded, “There’s no money for sports.” 

 I (like many of you) am a product of SLZ and proud of my Rebel past. I’m not sure how to fix the school district’s budget issues without major reform, however, I do know we can make a difference.  For the past 13 years, I’ve donated to the sports program as 100% of the money goes towards the program and developing future leaders. The sports program was a key building block in my life and continues to help many teens, but like prior years, they need our help.

To help support this great cause, my wife and I will match every dollar donated and will donate an additional dollar for every “share” through the end of the year.  Please donate and/or help spread the word to your San Lorenzo friends and family by sharing our campaign through social media. Donations of at least $25 will receive 2 free jump passes to Rockin' Jump. Together we can make a difference.
