Many of you listened to Rhonda Monroe’s presentations and commentary on her patient experience at the July San Diego Heart Failure Symposium. You may also have talked with her with during one of the intermissions. Rhonda’s description of her medical journey and her resolve to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles touched us deeply, both personally and as healers.

Rhonda lives in rural North Carolina and I just received news that her home and all her belongings were inundated by the recent storm that savaged rural portions of the state. Her house is permanently uninhabitable, her furniture completely ruined and, most painfully, personal treasures were lost.

Rhonda relayed to me the depth of despair brought on by these events. She also shared how, in these darkest of times, the outpouring of concern from friends has sustained her.

I have set up this GoFundMe site for Rhonda to help provide financial support that is needed both immediately and to help fill in the large gaps in funding that insurance won’t cover.

I hope that you will join me by contributing generously to this fund. While we cannot replace Rhonda’s loss, we can show the caring and support of our medical community for one of the bravest human beings I have ever encountered.
