Hi My Name is Joseph Scholz, and I have the distinct pleasure of knowing Master Hiram Turner, who is the rock for the Moo Duk Kwan (school of Korean Karate) in Central Texas, over the last 20+ years. A group of like minded Dans (Dr. David Norman, Mr. Joseph Hurst, Sa Bom Jon Cohen and myself) at the school wanted to thanks SBN Turner for creating a home.
Hiram K. Turner, Sa Bom Nim is well-known in Region 6 and the greater Soo Bahk Do community. He exhibits a gentle kind spirit, who is admired for his dedication to our art and his commitment to his students. He aims to see that they grow in the Moo Do values, but also that they fulfill the potential they may not see in themselves. His legacy, then, is not the Do Jang in which he trains his students, but rather in his students and their future.
During the pandemic, we (his students) set about the task of rebuilding the Do Jang (training studio), having secured a nice location. With the investment of sweat equity for more than a year, and with the help of many, we have opened a vibrant, new space that is secure for years to come.
Only a few things remain to be finished before the Do Jang reaches the level to which we aspire: a proper-matted floor, a women’s changing space, and a new sign. To this end, his students are hoping to raise the funds necessary to furnish his Do Jang. We ask you to come alongside us as we seek to honor Sa Bom Nim Turner in this endeavor. We will continue to put in the labor. Would you be willing to help us raise the $2,700 for flooring and building supplies?
So if you know me, or know SBN Turner, please consider giving to assist with our goal.
Thanks,
Joe
PS: if we get more money than we requested, we will pay it forward to the next small school with a gift of flooring to them. strengthening one existing school at a time.
