Support Veteran Missionary Samuel Yangmi’s Recovery
Urgent 6-Month Window for Healing
Samuel Yangmi — who brought spiritual awakening to Thailand's Lahu people and communities throughout Northern Thailand for nearly 50 years — is now in a critical window for brain recovery. After serving as an independent missionary until 1993, he joined the Church of the Nazarene and ultimately served as District Superintendent of the Northern Mekong District and Thailand's Country Coordinator until his retirement in 2019. Your support can help provide him with the best possible care during this crucial time for recovery.
What Happened
On April 5, 2025, our dad underwent triple bypass surgery in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Though the surgery was initially successful, his heart went into arrhythmia days later. A 100% blockage was found near one of the new grafts leading to cardiac arrest. During emergency intervention, his heart stopped twice, requiring 12 rounds of CPR to revive him.
The oxygen deprivation caused a severe brain injury known as Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE). Every day since has been a battle — not just for survival, but for hope and healing.

Who He Is
Rev. Samuel Yangmi — husband, father, missionary, and servant of God.
He's a loving husband, father of four, and grandfather.
For nearly five decades, he faithfully served in mission work — beginning as an independent missionary among the Lahu people, and then joining the Church of the Nazarene in 1993. He went on to start children's homes, plant churches, and share the love of Christ in some of the most remote and underserved areas of Thailand. Before his retirement in 2019, he rose to serve as District Superintendent for the Northern Mekong District and as Thailand's Country Coordinator for the Church of the Nazarene. Among the Lahu people, he became known as "the awakener," bringing the Gospel to those in spiritual darkness.
Why Now?
Neurologists have identified the next 6 months as the most critical period for recovery. The brain is most responsive to therapy and stimulation during this time — small gains now can lead to lasting improvements.

A sign of hope as we looked out the window overlooking the hospital.
Our Plea as His Children
Watching our father in this condition — unable to speak, unable to advocate for himself — pushes us every day to fight for his healing.
He raised us with quiet strength and unwavering love. He didn’t have much, but he gave everything to us and to those he served.
We’ve prayed, wept, and now we are doing everything in our power to believe and act in faith.
Our dad would never ask for help for himself — so we’re asking for him. On behalf of the man who gave his life to serve others.
How You Can Help
- Contribute: Any amount helps —$5 or $500.

- Pray: We believe in miracles. Your prayers give us strength.
Fund Management
Dad is listed as the beneficiary of this campaign, but given his current condition, we are managing the funds as a family through his existing account that was set up prior to this medical crisis. Mom and the family members who already have access to this account will ensure every donation goes directly toward his medical care and treatment.
We are fully committed to Dad’s care and will continue to stand by him — no matter the outcome of this campaign.
We will post updates with photos and progress reports every Saturday. Your support truly means the world to our entire family.
With heartfelt gratitude,
