Samuel's Heart Fund

As many of you may already know, Caleb and Molly’s sweet baby boy Samuel was born at the beginning of June with a condition called Heterotaxy Syndrome, which means his organs aren't arranged properly in his body. The most severe defects are in Samuel's heart and pulmonary veins. He's had two open-heart surgeries already, but his veins have deteriorated further, leaving him one option: a third open-heart surgery that will be done at Boston Children's Hospital because of their expertise. This means Samuel, Molly, and Caleb need to relocate to Boston for what might be the next 6-12 months so Samuel can get the surgery he needs to survive.
If you are lucky enough to know Molly and Caleb, then you know how strong they have been through this ordeal. You know that they have fought every day for their son Samuel while still being devoted parents for their other son Carter. And you know that they are sustained by their deep and abiding faith in Christ.
Molly and Caleb have been blessed with a devoted family, friends who love them, and the support of their church, where Caleb works as a pastor. But this challenge is something else entirely. This wonderful family faces the extraordinary task of establishing a second home across the country while Samuel gets the care he needs. The transfer to Boston will likely happen in the next week or two. Molly and Caleb need all the help they can get to make sure they can focus on caring for their wonderful boy.
Molly and Caleb asked me to share this from them:
“We are uprooting our lives to get our baby boy the care that he needs. He has been through so much in his short 5 months of life. Looking at Samuel you would never know he is as sick as he is. All day long he is smiling/laughing and is a joy to our lives, and also to the entire CICU (so we are regularly told)! But Samuel is extremely sick, and we are faced with the thought of losing him each and every day. We do not know how long Samuel will be in our lives, or when God will call him home to himself. But we pray that he lives a long, God glorifying life. Ultimately, we know that we can bring Samuel to the best physicians in the world, but it is the Lord who is in control of Samuel’s future.
We had not considered a Gofundme until this point because we have been so blessed by people’s gifts and generosity. There are not enough words to thank those of you that have given towards our 5 months stay in the hospital. We are truly overwhelmed by people’s generosity and more importantly, your prayers. But now we are confronted with an unknown future and expenses as we traverse the country. We know that medical flights are expensive, lodging/food is very expensive in downtown Boston, and we are down to one income as Molly is not working. As you can imagine, we have no idea what our costs will be, nor do we know how long we will stay. Our hope is only to raise what we need for this time and nothing more. So, we will be setting a goal (because you have to on Gofundme) and updating our page with new needs that arise to give clarification.
Thank you for considering supporting us financially, but even more important than that, please be praying for Samuel. Pray for God’s mercy on His life and ours as we embark on this journey. We trust the Lord has a plan and daily lift up our prayers to Him.”
Thank you to everyone who is able to support the Kim family, whether that's in prayer or coming alongside them financially!
