Samuel the Brave
Donation protected
We would all like to believe we have control over the outcome of our own lives but the harsh reality is that we don’t. Our 3 year old nephew Sam was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). The doctors recently determined he has a very rare, high risk type called near haploid B-lymphoblastic leukemia which is harder to treat.
This past December we found a lump on his head, and upon removal early this year we got the gut wrenching news that instead of playdates and Pre-K, Samuel Rogers would be spending the next three years receiving chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. Sam is aware that he has a sick bug and is getting medicine to help him get better, but is struggling to understand everything he has and will have to endure. Yet, he is one TOUGH, smart, brave, AWESOME little boy!
Our family, and everyone who knows the light that Sam brings are devastated by this news but must remain positive. Sam’s five-year-old sister Reese understands that her little brother is sick but is not quite old enough to fully realize the gravity of his illness. Kelli will not be working during this time in order to be there with Sam as he fights this disease. Eric, even though he wishes he could stay with Sam, needs to continue working and holds the important job of maintaining the health insurance. But even with health insurance, the financial burden they will experience from travel back and forth to Madison for treatments, loss of income and medical bills will be tremendous. The purpose of this page is to hopefully raise funds to help Sam’s family offset the expenses that are without doubt coming their way as they start this difficult journey.
Eric, Kelli, Reese and Sam want to say thank you for all the love and support they have received, this has helped to make a heart breakingly, painful time just a little more bearable. We ask that you keep Sam in your prayers, and if you are able to make any donation, we would appreciate immensely. We will keep everyone updated as this journey continues, and God Bless.
