Samuel "Buzzy" McLean Jr.
Donation protected
Samuel "Buzzy" McLean Jr. is a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. Throughout his young and adult life he has struggled with many challenges including Paranoid Schizophrenia, Bipolar and Antisocial Personality Disorder, Depression and Anxiety. All of which has had a deep and disturbing impact on him and his family. It wasn't until "Buzzy" was 18 and in and out of trouble did we realize how sick he really was but by then it was to late. Buzzy is currently incarcerated in Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora NY and has been there for almost "20" years. Unfortunately, he didn't get the help he so desperately needed before his life took a turn for the worst and a New York State judge gave him consecutive sentences one being 21 years to life for a crime he didn't commit while his co-defendant received a concurrent 15 to life and has recently been released; he is a free man. This is not uncommon and it's not uncommon for people with mental illness to be overlooked by the judicial system and sentenced to lengthy and unfair sentences in America. It's unfair and we want things to change not only for "Buzzy" but for all those who are affected by mental illness and find themselves undefended and blind sided by a system that doesn't take mental illness seriously or into consideration. We have hired a competent attorney who will fight for "Buzzy's" rights but like all things it's going to cost money. Unfortunately, time doesn't stand still and "Buzzy's" parents are now in their seventies making it extremely hard for them to continue to fight the good fight for their beloved son. Buzzy needs your prayers, hope, faith and donations if he is going to have a second chance at life. Twenty years is a very long time to spend behind bars and while it's not uncommon it's not justice. While it is our intention to seek out non-profit organization throughout the country to help highlight the disturbing trend of incarcerating the mental ill we need your help. Please help us give "Buzzy", hope and the opportunity to live as close to a normal and productive life as possible instead of dying behind bars alone and without his family. He is a gentle and sincere young man who deserves at least that. We know there is strength in numbers and no matter how much you give we also know every penny helps!
