On Novemeber 7, 2015, Gabriel and I (Bergen) welcomed our first child, Samson, into the world. He was born 4lbs, 2oz at full term and doctors quickly found many abnormalities throughout his tiny little body. Weeks later, after lots of testing, 2 1/2 weeks in NICU, a heart surgery, and tons of questions and tears, we found out Samson has what's known as Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, or deletion of chromosome 4. You can learn more about what that means here: Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome

The severity of this syndrome varies from child to child, and the future is unknown to how his little body will begin to change and function. This year alone he is scheulded to have two surgeries and by his third birthday we will make plans for another heart surgery to correct the second hole in his year. He could start having seizures in the next few months that could last into his teen years. He is likely to need special medical equipment to help him walk, and in the future he will need extra care at home for physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and nurse care.
With our wedding approaching, in lieu of gifts, we would like to request donations to put towards Samson's medical and health expenses to give him the best chances to live a healthy and fruitful life.
We also would like to ask that you continue praying for him, our little boy who is fearfully and wonderfully made. Samson continues to grow stronger everyday and we are amazed by his progress and know that it's your prayers and love that are helping him grow. We know God has great plans for him in our life and others. Our biggest prayer right now is that he continue to feed well and grow quickly so that he can be strong enough to succesfully recover from his first couple surgeries.

We thank you for your prayers, support, donations and encouragement. Our family is so grateful for the love of so many amazing people and for our amazing God who has been guiding us through every day with this miracle baby.
