Samson Memorial Fund

Hello my name is Jonathan; with the heaviest of hearts, my worst nightmare came true. My beloved 10-year-old Maine Coon Samson died tragically.

On Labor day, during a routine procedure at an animal hospital, a mistake was made, and Samson's lung was punctured. He went into cardiac arrest and was revived, only to remain on a ventilator, unable to breathe independently. He died two days later.

The heartbreak was felt around the world by all of you, as our bond was shared on social media for years and people adored this gentle giant.

Samson was a national treasure and a legend in the animal kingdom, a huge Maine Coon at almost 4 feet in length and over 30lbs. But people really fell in love with his disposition, kind, giving and caring personality.

I feel that we as a community can come together to continue to honor Samsons legacy in a few different ways. We can never bring him back to life but his beautiful story, photos and videos can be shared for many generations to come.

We can also make sure accidents like this one are avoided.

So I am raising money for a few different ideas, which you can offer suggestions in the comments.

 I am seeking funding for legal fees, and supporting animal advocacy groups like joeyslegacy.org. In addition keeping Samson’s story alive and continuing to share his beauty in print and video for years to come.
