Addiction is a worldwide issue that effects millions of people across the world, not only does it effect the life of the addict but equally tears families apart without discrimination. I have struggled with drug and alcohol abuse for several years without much hope of finding a solution.

In my search for recovery, I’ve attended a number of community-based recovery programmes, residential rehabs and independent counsellors which all had their place in my journey, however most recently I’ve celebrated my longest period of sobriety and a drastic change to my quality of life and a lot of that has to do with ‘Aspirations Program’.

Aspirations is a community led addiction rehabilitation Charity that supports vulnerable adults facing multiple disadvantages and complex needs from mental health issues, homelessness and deep-rooted trauma. It provides a safe place for people to come and share their common experience whilst receiving therapy sessions both group and 1 to 1 to help recover from addiction. For me the routine and things I learned have been invaluable and without doubt played a huge part in the noticeable change in my life.

For that reason, I feel I owe a lot to Marie and the Team at Aspirations, on the 10th of July I will be competing in a Sprint Triathlon in Southend which will include a 750m Swim / 20km Cycle ride / 5km run all sponsorship would go a huge way to helping Aspirations continue their phenomenal work in this community and help others like they have helped me through this difficult period.

There is no limit to how little or how much you would like to donate just know that every penny goes to a great cause and one that will remain close to my heart.
