Sam's Tin House Workshop Fund

Hey all and thanks for reading!
I'm Sam for those that don't know me and for those that do know me--sup. I'm currently an MFA candidate at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN trying to find every opportunity I can to succeed as a writer.
Recently I was accepted into Tin House's Winter Poetry Workshop for 2017. The workshop occurs early March in the coastal Oregon town of Newport, where I will learn under the amazing Kevin Young and alongside other dedicated, talented writers.
While I originally applied to their scholarship program, I was deferred into general applications, and now, having accepted, need to raise money to cover the $1,300 fee for the workshop and an extra $300-500 for a roundtrip flight out of Minneapolis, where I live.
Some information about me as a writer and a human:
I'm in my 2nd year of graduate school, with hopes to graduate with my MFA in Spring 2018. While I began as a fiction and prose writer, I have newly discovered the power of poetry to make political and personal change in the world, and aim for my writing to reflect the times in which we live.
I live with a genetic skin disorder called Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, which, in layman's terms, means my skin is fragile like tissue paper. This makes finding work difficult and I have turned to writing to try to make a life (and because my soul insists on the beauty of words).
I am currently maintaining a 4.0 GPA in my studies and have most recently been published in Brevity Magazine.
Why help?
I really believe this workshop, put on by such a powerful and respected publication like Tin House, is a major step towards achieving my goal of living and earning as a disabled writer in the "real world."
Words can't properly express how thankful I am to be given this opportunity, but to take the next step I need y'all's help. Any and all donations will be met with unending thanks and gratitude from the very depths of my heart and soul, and will get me one step/propeller-turn closer to Oregon.
If for any reason there is leftover money, I will use it towards thanking you all personally for everything you've done for me. This is my poet's promise.
IN closing, please consider giving as much or as little as you can to help a fledgling writer achieve his (however audacious) dreams. You're all beautiful.
I have until February 24 to raise the $1,300 owed to Tin House.
Thank you thank you thank you,
Sam / Sammy / Sammie / Samuel
