Sam's Summit Internship in South Africa
Spende geschützt
Dear friends,
This summer I have been asked to take part in a leadership development internship called Summit. Summit is hosted by East Mountain, a ministry of United World Mission, and takes place in Stellenbosch, South Africa from approximately May 15th to July 12th. Stellenbosch is the second oldest European settlement in South Africa and played an integral role in the establishment of the Apartheid regime which fell over twenty years ago. It is a university town which plays host to the rich despite being a stone’s throw from Kayamandi, an informal settlement made of tin roof shacks and wracked with some of the most severe poverty in the world. East Mountain seeks to raise gospel-centered leaders in this community and in the world at large through programs such as Summit. There, I would live under the same roof as my fellow interns and visiting theologians and missionaries as we dive into spiritual growth, biblical living, practical leadership training, and serving alongside local ministry partners through deeply authentic community. I hope to gain new perspectives not only on a world I have yet to see and experience but also on God’s heart for that world and the ways He utilizes community to reach it.
There’s no way I can do this alone. More than anything, you can help by remembering myself, this ministry, and the people of South Africa in your prayers. Biblical community doesn’t stop at who we interact with every day; it extends even as far as from me to you, and I feel incredibly honored and blessed knowing my community is supporting me through prayer. And if God is calling you to further invest in my needs financially, please know that your gift will be gratefully received and put entirely toward this trip and the service of His kingdom. In order to go, I will need to raise approximately $4,500 in a very short period of time, and there is no other way I will be able to do this except by trusting in God’s provision and in the community in which He has placed me. Thank you for your support!
