Hi folks. So many of you already know about Sampson's injury, from following the updates on my personal FaceBook page, as well as his own page. For those that don't know, please feel free to take a look at his page, https://www.facebook.com/SampsonTheGoldenChild , which has a cross posting from my personal page, documenting his progress through this injury. He has been at NC State Veterinary Hospital since 9/8/2021...3 weeks now! It's been a journey, to say the least! His doctors and staff have been wonderful and we are all holding our breath that he may be at a point where he can come home soon. At that point, he will still be under close vet care until that foot heals completely. How long that will be is solely up to how he heals.
I have personally struggled a great deal with whether to create this account or not. Part of me strongly feels that it's solely my responsibility to care for the animals under my wing, regardless of how big or small. Know that I will, one way or the other! I think about so many other people with much larger worries, stresses & concerns than a mere horse. Then, I am quickly reminded by so many people just how much this particular horse means to them. There is no question, he has stolen the hearts of numerous children (and adults) during local parades. He was born to be a parade-pony & absolutely adores the attention & loves his fans. The outpouring of concern, calls to check on him (and me), children asking to come visit him (he sure has a solid group of fans, no doubt!), parents inquiring about his progress because their children are worried over him, get well pictures for him....it's truly mind-boggling. He's always been special to me, and I knew folks enjoyed seeing him in the local parades, but it's times like this that truly hits home JUST how much of an impact the Big Guy really has. Numerous people have asked if there would be a GoFundMe to help with his bills. While my initial intentions were not to set one up, it has been presented to me several times that people would simply like an outlet to be able to show their support for Sampson, in return for the joy he's brought to them over the years. In that perspective, I feel a bit selfish by NOT creating the account. So, here we are. As of 9/24/2021, his vet bills were totaling over $6500, and counting daily. Once he comes home, his vets will visit him a couple of times a week until he fully heals, so the bills will continue. Regardless of the final amounts, he is, without a doubt, worth every penny to me.
IF you wish to help with his account, know that it will be greatly appreciated. Every penny will go to his bills and I will furnish copies of the bills as they hit my hands. If you wish to send us more prayers, well wishes & good vibes for successful healing, we will GLADLY take those too! Thank you all, and keep those fingers crossed that Sampson can make it back to strutting through those parades as quick as possible!
Much love,
Christina & Sampson
