Sammy’s Jaw Surgery & Spinal surgery

Since my sister was 16 years old, she have had severe jaw/face/head/neck pain. After many years of dealing with pain she decided to see specialists/surgeons. For the past few years all doctor's that she visited have told her that unfortunately, she has a sever overbite position. As a result, her joints have been deteriorating and dislocating over the years resulting in bone-on-bone contact. Also every single doctor have told her that if she doesn't get the surgery done, her jaw eventually will brake and it will be extremely painful.The pain she experiences is constant; eating, smiling, and talking all worsen the pain. Sleeping doesn’t even relieve the pain as she grinds and clenches her jaw throughout the night and for that reason she wakes up few times a night due to the pain.

To start the process she had to be on braces for almost 18-24 months to open up room for the surgery (which braces costed her almost $8000 already and sadly that was just the beginning). In 5 months she will be ready for Bone augmentation procedure. These procedures typically involve grafting (adding) bone or bonelike materials to the jaw, and waiting for the grafted material to fuse with the existing bone over several months. Also, orthognathic surgery, the maxilla or upper jaw and the mandible or lower jaw both or one need to be put back into place for bite reasons. She still has to be in braces for another 12 months after the surgery.

Insurance does not cover all the cost for her surgery, my sister has Bachelors degree in Architecture, General Contractors License, and Real Estate License, but due to her health problems she can't work to cover the cost.

My sister has been through so much and she is also battling with spinal injury since 2016. The injury has caused her to be unable to walk or sit down for more than 15-20 minutes at a time. She has tried physical therapy and various pain medications to deal with the chronic pain. She has also tried physical therapy, chiropractic treatment, acupunctures, acupuncture combined with cupping, epidural injections, Radiofrequency ablation and nothing has helped to relieve her pain, but instead it has caused depression and major weight loss. The only option she has now is to undergo spinal fusion surgery which she is very scared to do and not mentioning her worry for the cost of the surgery as well.

She loves and adores her sons beyond words and her only wish is to be able to take care of them, play with them, take them to school and pick them up and be simply a mom instead of being in bed rest or so much pain that she can't move and at times has to crawl from the pain.

 

We often take it for granted the simple things in life such as walking, sitting, cooking, or being able to hug our children/loved ones. I simply want my cheerful and life of the party sister back that i been missing for the past few years.
