I am certain Sammy Jo never met a stranger. I was new to the Wisconsin show scene. At my very first night, of my very first horse show Sammy Jo walked right up to me and introduced herself. She said she had heard I had worked at Callaway Hills and for Melissa Moore. She asked me all sorts of questions about both Melissa and all of the horses and their breedings from Callaway Hills. She was so friendly, curious and just plain sweet.
I wouldn't say that Sammy Jo and I were close friends. But I will say we talked every time we saw each other. We always had something to talk about, and she was always full of questions and stories. I'm pretty sure she could carry on a conversation with anyone.
There's no denying that she loved the American Saddlebred. She lived for the American Saddlebred. That was her purpose in life.
I'd like to believe that she lived her dream. And like most dreams, there's always bumps along the way. Her last few years were not without stresses, disappointments and lots of trying to find her way. But she had found her way back home.
On Saturday November 30, 34 Sammy Jo Galicas life came to a tragic end. She was in a fatal car crash.
The reality of the situation is that all of Sammy Jo's finances were wrapped up in running her farm. Please help us raise money to help support a funeral that she deserves. I know she'd be first in line to try to help support her fellow horsemen or friends in need.
