This Go Fund Me drive is to help offset some of the initial costs associated with the recovery of Sammy Haynes, who very recently underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor. This in turn presents a new set of challenges for him and his family.

Sam is doing well: his surgical team was highly successful in removing the tumor. He is functioning without any neurological deficits, and planning to return to school relatively soon. However, his father Chris is his sole living parent, and though he has successfully raised Sam for 15 years following the loss of Sam’s mom at childbirth, their one-income, semi-retirement budget will not easily meet these new financial demands.

Temporary loss of work, logistical costs around keeping frequent medical appointments in both Springfield and Boston, and large copays for regular tests like MRI scans are just a few examples why this help is needed.
