Sammy - Giving Him the Ability to Walk !

Sammy will be having a surgery on May 20, to correct the muscles in his legs. This will be a very long surgery and will allow him to stand, balance and walk for the first time in years!!
Sammy is a delightful, loving 10 year old who lights up every room he enters. He has had cerebral palsy his entire life and it effects his lower extremities and his left side. He currently uses crutches with braces on his ankles to get around for short distances. He has a wheelchair for longer distances, playing during recess and gym class. His leg muscles have gotten tighter and tighter over the last few years to the point that he can not stand or balance and has lost the ability to walk without support.
This surgery will change his life, they will operate on his hips, knees and ankle muscles in one major (all day) surgery! The end results with a lot of physical therapy and hard work will be that Sammy will have his dreams come true! He will be able to stand, walk and RUN for the first time in his life! Sammy truly wants to play and be with his friends and I can't wait to see that happen.
I love my son with all my heart and will be by his side though this entire journey.
Unfortunately, due to the "Stay at Home" orders and Covid-19 this entire process is going to be much more difficult. I will be moving to Wilmington, DE for the entire time he is recovering ( approximate stay 6-7 weeks ) and staying in a hotel, when I am not at his bedside. I will have to pay for the hotel and all meals and travel expenses for this journey. Most of the resources such as the Ronald McDonald House are not an option during this crisis. My fiancé and my daughter will be staying home, because only one person is allowed inside the hospital to stay with Sammy, and that is the ONLY person allowed to see him.
