We’re trying to raise money for Sammy, our 10 year old, Jack Russell Terrier and Miniature Pinscher mix. We found out he was going blind when he was about 6 years old but now things have gotten dramatically worse. The cataracts are now affecting his daily routines like running, playing and even eating. There's a heightened sense of fear when letting him out to the backyard because he has to go down stairs. Things that were once easy for him now require a lot of effort. He's become more sensitive to injuries. Sammy bumps into walls frequently not being able to differentiate the doors from the walls. He no longer feels comfortable playing inside and is very insecure. You’ll place a treat for him on the ground and it takes him several minutes to find it. It has now gotten to the point that we believe this is causing him pain. He’s been scratching his eyes lately, which has caused one to be more swollen than the other. It's really sad to see how a dog that once used to meet you at the door when you were coming home, no longer gets up from his bed because of the discomfort it causes him.
We have taken him to the vet and he gets daily drops to alíviate the pain. However, the drops don’t seem to do much. Any and all donations would be appreciated. 100% of the funds will be going towards the eye surgery which would remove the cataracts. His Christmas gift this year should be the ability to see again like he once used to. Please help us get our little guy back to the playful pup he once was. Thank you.
