As many of you know, Sammi was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma in August of 2022. She went through 62 weeks of chemo from the end of August to July of 2023. We have spent most of the last year in the hospital with her, with her radiation stays to five day stays. Her mom was off of work for 9 months because she had to stay down there with her. We were constantly traveling back and forth, hotel stays, gas and food. She had CT scans done in August of 2023 and those revealed some new lesions that her Oncology team was worried about. So her team ordered a PET scan to confirm the new lesions. We have talked about these new lesions with her doctors and we are back to square one. They are doing an MRI today (09/15/23), once we have these results back, they will determine if she will need radiation only, radiation with chemo which is called Traditional Chemo or Targeted Chemo which we will be able to do at home. This is a step backwards from where we were but we know with everyone's support, prayers and whatever you believe in, we will get through this. We are uncertain right now if I (her mom) will have to quit work again due to the timing of the treatments. Anything anyone An do will help us greatly. We appreciate each and everyone that has reached out to us! Update for everyone! As you all know by our posts, Sammi’s cancer has returned and is now in her spinal cord and brain. She started radiation on October 9 and will continue radiation this week the 16th and has her second cycle of chemo also this week of the 16th. I have had to take a leave of absence from work and not sure when I will be able to return due to Sammi having to be cared for 24 hrs a day. She has had to use a wheelchair to get around while we stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Indy. Joe is working as much as he can when he can. Please, everyone share this and anything helps this warrior!!! Thank you and god bless you all!! Hello everyone! As many of you know, Sammi had to have another round of chemo and radiation. We found out that it did not work and they gave her 3 weeks to six months. We have found an alternative treatment but the cost to us is $8,000, please if anyone can help it’s all of our friends, family and strangers that we have not met but they donate and share for us!! We greatly appreciate everyone’s donations!!!
As many of you know, Sammi gained her angel wings on 11/22/2023 at 3:28 pm surrounded by her parents, brother, sisters and best friends. We want to thank everyone for all of your love and support during this difficult time. And we want to thank everyone for all the donations and food as well. We love you all from the bottoms of our hearts!
