Saving Sammie our Goldendoodle puppy

Donation protected
Meet Sammie, my sweet 10 week old mini Goldendoodle puppy, who is currently fighting for his life.

In the very short amount of time that we’ve had him, he has brought such unimaginable joy, love and happiness into our lives! As a busy mom, I was hesitant to add more responsibility to our lives, but with my youngest daughter’s love for animals, I knew bringing home this puppy would mean the world to her and give her all the extra love she wanted- and Sammie sure did that! He would sit on her lap all day long and she would give him kiss after kiss and lots of hugs. They became instant besties and Sammie would follow my 8 year old daughter everywhere she went!

Unfortunately, just three days after bringing Sammie home, he got really sick. He wouldn’t eat, and wasn’t his playful self. He started throwing up and having diarrhea in the afternoon. By that late evening, he had blood in his stool and that was when I made the decision to rush him to the ER at 5am. Within 10 minutes of checking Sammie in, he tested Parvo Positive, a deadly and contagious virus that affects dogs. The doctors explained that Parvo is contracted 14 days prior to any clinical reactions, so it is highly probable that he already contracted it before we brought him home.

Sammie is in desperate need of hospitalization to give him a fighting chance. They are treating him through IV to keep him hydrated. He hasn’t stopped vomiting and he can’t hold any liquids or food down. And being that he is such a little puppy ( all 1.6lbs ), he doesn’t have much reserves in his body. His blood pressure is dangerously low, and his fever reached 103 today. Since there is no cure for the virus, the doctors are doing their best to keep him hydrated and as healthy as possible so that his own immune system can fight this horrible virus. Today, the doctor recommended giving Sammie a plasma infusion, which is his last resort. If the infusion does not work, Sammie will more than likely lose this battle.

I’m hoping and praying that he makes a full recovery and can come home soon. I’ve held him as much as I could today at the hospital and told him he needs to come home because so many people love him and are waiting for him and can’t wait to play and snuggle him. And the entire time, as weak as he was, he managed to look up at me and stare - even when his eyes got heavy.

The money donated would go 100% directly to all of his hospitalization care. As of today, two days into his parvo treatment, I have spent $6500. Doctors have explained to me that it is highly probable that he will have to stay longer due to his conditions and I don’t know how I will afford all his treatment. The other option they gave me was euthanasia and I simply don’t have the heart to do that. The doctors believe he has a fighting chance and as long as there is a realistic chance, I will do everything I can do to help Sammie get through this! As a mom, I feel there is no choice but to fight for Sammie, because fighting for Sammie would also mean fighting for my daughters’ happiness.  Just seeing my daughters full of love when he is around - there’s just no amount of money in the world that can bring that kind of feeling to my heart.

I’m very uncomfortable with the idea of asking people to donate money for Sammie’s care. It’s actually extremely difficult to do so, but it is also my last resort and the only way Sammie has a fighting chance is to receive the care he needs and it’s just incredibly expensive. So for those who are donating, please know that I am truly grateful from the bottom of my heart!! Thank you, thank you!!
