This summer has been life changing for Samantha and our entire family. The summer started with my 3 daughters, Sahara, Saudia and Samantha going on a 10 day vacation to Northern California and Reno. They returned home June 13 the day before Sammie’s 12th Birthday. On the drive home they were alarmed because Sam suddenly got a fever. I told them to give her medicine and get her home. Once home I took her to the ER. They told us she had an UTI and sent us home with 10 days of antibiotics. After the 10 days of medicine Sammie did not get better. I took her back to ER and they admitted her on June 24. We have been in the hospital for 24 days. Today she started her first day of chemotherapy. She has been diagnosed with Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis or HLH a rare disease. It’s equivalent or worse than cancer. After 9 weeks of steroids and chemotherapy she will get a blood transfusion. She then will need a bone marrow transplant. The children’s hospital of Cincinnati is the leader in the treatment of HLH. Here is a video to help explain this terrible disease .Sammie is a beautiful and happy 12 year old girl. She is loved by all who know her. Her teachers and fellow students at Rio Rancho Elementary all adore her. We need financial support to get her to the Children's Hospital of Cincinnati ASAP. HLH is aggressive and deadly. Sammie lost 13lbs in 2 weeks. For the last month she has had recurring fevers of up to 106. Though out all of the testing and blood work she has kept her upbeat attitude. We have lived in the Pediatric ICU for almost a month. Her entire family has been by her side daily. I am her mother, Ryan her father and both of her sisters are all sick with worry. Please help and donate to our fund to get Sammie to Cincinnati to get a life saving bone marrow transplant. Even if you donate a few dollars every bit helps.
