Sammy the Samoyed needs hip replacement surgery.
This beautiful boy is Sammy. His owner is Anne, a middle-aged single lady who loves her baby with all her heart. For five years Sammy and Anne have been inseparable. They have been each other's family since Sammy was a tiny puppy. Anne is a most devoted and responsible owner who has provided Sammy with excellent care. Their early years were filled with wonderful outdoor adventures, long hikes and visits to local parks and beaches.
Sadly, those days have come to an end as Sammy has developed hip dysplasia in his left hip which leaves him barely able to walk. He is in constant pain. The veterinarians who have seen him have advised that he needs hip replacement surgery if he is to regain his quality of life. The only humane alternative is euthanasia, and that would be a tragedy both for Sammy and for Anne. The vets say that Sammy is a great candidate for the surgery as he is young, in excellent health otherwise, and has been kept in good physical condition. There is every expectation that the surgery should restore his (and Anne's) joy of life.
It is a reflection of Anne's devotion that, despite very limited resources, she has kept him insured his whole life for veterinary care. This is a huge blessing now because the estimate for the surgery is currently $9, 511.41! The pet plan will pay $6,700. of this. The hip replacement is scheduled for November 7th in Vancouver.
