Sami’s medical and family’s Philadelphia travel expenses

Donation protected
I’ve started a go fund me to support my little sister and her family during these difficult times for them. She and her husband (Tom)’s beautiful new son, Sami, was just born via c-section early May and immediately had trouble breathing due to unknown medical reasons. The neonatal physicians say this happens to about 8% of all babies and they aren’t sure of why. Sami’s condition was so bad that they medivac’d him to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and I flew out as soon as possible, got a rental car and an airbnb for a week and brought Sunnie to meet her brother and am watching her for a couple of weeks.

We’re hoping that we can get her family accepted into Ronald McDonald House (where there is still a suggested daily donation) and that the wait list isn’t too long. But even with this, there will still be a minimum of a month of him being here, copays and added expenses of food, gas, etc. Tom owns his own contracting business so doesn’t have any disability benefits to draw from during this time. He will do his best to continue to work and commute back and forth but this will significantly impact them, even with health insurance. Getting a babysitter to help with Sunnie, parking fees, room and food costs, etc. will add up and I’d love to make it so they can focus on just caring for Sami and healing from her own c-section if at all possible. If you are able to support, or even share a little love on this page by leaving a note, I know that their family would very much appreciate it. Thank you all so much. Much love.
