Help Support Samir’s Road to Recovery
On Monday, February 24, Samir’s parents took him to the hospital due to a high fever and an unexpected rash. After several tests, doctors diagnosed him with a Non-COVID coronavirus—the earliest strain of the virus, first identified in the 1960s.
Unfortunately, from February 24 to February 26, Samir’s condition took a devastating turn. He lost 85% of his skin due to the rapid severity of the disease. Further testing confirmed that he is suffering from Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN)—a rare and life-threatening condition that causes severe blistering and peeling of the skin, affecting the entire body, including the mouth, eyes, and genitals.
Due to the seriousness of his condition, doctors made the urgent decision to transfer (fly) Samir to Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Burn Unit, where he is now receiving intensive care. His journey to recovery will be long and difficult, requiring weeks—if not months—of hospitalization.
Understandably, Samir’s parents have not left his side, making it impossible for them to work. In addition to the overwhelming medical challenges, they are facing financial burdens, including daily expenses at the hospital, household bills, and caring for their other child at home.
Many friends and family have asked how they can help, so we’ve created this GoFundMe to provide financial support during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference in easing their burden and allowing them to focus on what truly matters—Samir’s healing.
Please keep Samir and his family in your thoughts and prayers, and if you’re able, consider donating to help them through this unimaginable journey.
