My daughter Samantha (Sami Ruckus) Liatto and her family were flooded out of their apartment in Pleasant Plains, Staten Island last night. As you all know we have had a ton of rain recently. Apparently last night’s rain was just too much and the water started rushing through the door and coming through the walls.
Thankfully Samantha, James, Shane and Quinn are all safe. Family and friends (not the no show landlord) rushed over to help pump the water out but 2 feet of water did quick damage to all the furniture and most of the families belongings. The apartment most likely will have to be gutted leaving Samantha and the boys with nowhere to live for a while, possibly permanently, depending on what the landlord decides to do with the now unlivable conditions in the apartment. She and her family may need to take shelter in a hotel for now.
Samantha is a single mother of two. For her main job she works for a city agency that requires city residency. She constantly works two side jobs and just started her own small business just to survive and keep a roof over her family’s head and food in their mouths. Most often working 6 to 7 days a week. If you know Samantha you know she is generous with her time and what little money she has left after paying bills always donating and volunteering to help. Now she needs a little help in getting her family up on their feet.
The financial burden of securing housing (temporary or permanent) and replacing the family’s belongs is overwhelming. I am reaching out to all of her family, friends, coworkers, customers, clients and community for support during this challenging time.
Every penny counts and your donations will contribute towards Samantha and her boys rebuilding their lives and providing a secure stable living situation. Together we can turn this unfortunate situation into a fresh start.
Please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser with your network. Your support during this trying time means more than words can express. I am profoundly grateful for your kindness, compassion and generosity.
