No one expects life to change completely overnight.

For us, it did in the spring of 2025.

Marvin is here. He is fighting. But his life looks very different now.

Marvin is 38. Active. Always moving.

Rugby, surfing, skating - that was his life.

Earlier this year, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Since then, daily life has revolved around hospital visits, treatments, and recovery. After several intensive treatment cycles, doctors discovered that the disease had also spread to his brain and spinal cord. Marvin is currently undergoing further intensive treatment, while doctors prepare for a possible stem cell transplant. There is cautious hope: a matching donor has recently been found.

Before his illness, Marvin worked as a self-employed solar panel installer. He spent most of his days outdoors, working physically. That life has come to a complete standstill.

What hasn’t stopped are the expenses.

Medical care, recovery, physiotherapy, and everyday living costs continue, while working is no longer possible.

That is why I created this fundraiser, which I manage personally.

Niemand verwacht dat het leven van de ene op de andere dag stilvalt.

Bij ons gebeurde dat in het voorjaar van 2025.

Marvin is er. Hij vecht. Maar zijn leven ziet er nu heel anders uit.

Marvin is 38. Actief. Altijd buiten. Altijd in beweging.

Rugby, surfen, schaatsen — zo leefde hij.

Begin dit jaar kwam de diagnose: non-Hodgkinlymfoom, een zeldzame en agressieve vorm van lymfeklierkanker.

Sindsdien draait alles om behandelingen, ziekenhuisbezoeken en herstel. Na meerdere zware trajecten bleek dat de ziekte zich ook heeft verspreid naar zijn hersenen en ruggenmerg. Marvin zit nu midden in intensieve vervolgbehandelingen. Artsen bereiden zich voor op een mogelijk stamceltransplantatietraject. Er is voorzichtig hoop: er is recent een matchende donor gevonden.

Voor zijn ziekte werkte Marvin als zelfstandig installateur van zonnepanelen. Hij was vrijwel altijd buiten, aan het werk. Dat leven staat nu volledig stil.

Wat niet stopt, zijn de kosten.

Zorg, herstel, fysiotherapie en dagelijkse uitgaven lopen door, terwijl werken voorlopig geen optie is.

Daarom heb ik deze crowdfunding opgezet. Ik beheer deze zelf.
