Sameer’s Karate Journey
Donation protected
My son Sameer Hasib is 15 years old. He started karate at the age of 4 @Wolvercote Village Hall with Sensei Sam from OSTMA.
Sameer has spent many years volunteering to assist his coach teach traditional lessons and help his club host local karate competitions and test matches.
Sameer started his own journey in competitive karate representing Sport Karate Academy at local and national level when he was 10.
He was selected to represent the South-West Regional Team at 10 and has won many medals at both nationally and internationally. Including:
• French Open 2024 - Bronze Medallist
• Bulgarian Open 2024 Bronze Medallist
• Belgian Open 2024 -Bronze Medallist
He was selected to train with the England National Squad when he turned 12, which is the minimum age limit for selection.
He is twice British Karate Federation Open Champion and has the most ranking points (for his weight/age category) within the English Karate Federation.
As the highest ranked athlete in England for his age and weight category, at 14 he was selected to represented England at the European Championships held in Georgia in February 2024. He placed 9th in his category.
In June 2024 he attended the Youth League in Porec, Croatia. In his first round he beat his opponent from Poland who is ranked number 1 in the World. Sameer went on to win his pool, narrowly missing out on a bronze medal.
Before this event Sameer was ranked 32nd in the World. He is now ranked 17th in the world for his age/weight category (Cadet +70 kg).
Sameer’s success at this event has boosted his confidence and we believe that he can take a medal at a World Level event.
If Sameer is ranked within the top 10 in the World, he may be selected to represent England at the 2032 Olympics.
To improve his World ranking he must attend Youth League as they are World Karate Federation ranked events.
He was unable to attend the Youth League Karate 1 – Youth League Cancun 2024 which was held in Mexico between 08-11 of August as we are unable to raise sufficient funds for him to attend it.
Sameer has now been selected to represent England at the Karate World Championships which will be held in Jesolo Venice between the 9-13th of October. He will fly to Venice on 6th of October (less than a week away) and he will compete on the 11th of October.
We would really like to raise a sum of £1500 towards:
• The cost of his karate kit/equipment and
• towards travel and accommodation for the following events:
1. The World Karate Championships 2024
2. The Venice Karate Youth League 2024
3. The La Coruna Karate Youth League 2025
4. The European Karte Championships 2025
5. Ranked events within the UK (EKF and BKF events) 2024/25
No donation is too small and we would be grateful for any support we can get to help Sameer reach his goals.
