Hello, This Go Fund me is for our Sam. Sammy has had Autism more specifically Asperger's syndrome from infancy. Originally Sam did not talk, had trouble walking, the simplest of tasks were a virtual nightmare for him. He also has epilepsy and his seizures over the years have made it difficult in such a rural area growing up to gain the typical independence of a teenager. Thru the help of many amazing people Sam has come so far, he just recently graduated from Wallenpaupack Highschool, with Honors by the way. I as his Mom am incredibly proud of Sammy. He has not let his Asperger's define him in a way that he doesn't keep trying, he has had alot of issues with bullying and no matter how far we come there is always people that aren't going to understand his quirks, and that is sad, but he keeps trying, even after bullies broke both of his front teeth, and smashed his glasses, he still tries to make friends. Sam loves the theater and making people laugh, thats his most social attribute. The reason for our GoFundm is that even with the scholarship Sam recieved from Marywood it does not cover his commuting expenses, books, and the laptop and printer(his unfortunately stopped working recently), and most importantly a independent life coach to help him navigate safely this new world of college. Sam spends every summer volunteering for the National Park service, he was very active in the peer mentoring program at his highschool, and is going to college to become a teacher for children on the spectrum just like him. He wants so much to make a difference in the lives of children who feel all alone in this world, who feel like no one understands, because he will truly be able to say to them I have been in your shoes, and it will be ok maybe not today but someday. Being raised by a single mom as his sole support should not be the reason that Sam cannot accomplish his dreams, any help at all would and will be greatly appreciated by Sam. Even if that help is a printer you never use but Sam could, an odd job any of us can do for a little extra money, anyone you know that could help us out with work on my car which I will be using to drive him the 110 miles round trip twice a day 5 days a week. Thank you for reading this for any support even if it is a prayer as Sam had a Brain scan last Friday and they think his epilepsy may be becoming more of a problem again. We would of never of gotten as far as we have without all of your love and support. Sam, his brother and sister and I are so grateful for all that you have done.
