Samara has been studying Japanese at Yujin Gakuen (the first public Japanese immersion school in the nation) since Kindergarten. She is graduating from 5th grade in June and has an amazing opportunity to visit Japan with her classmates. This is not an ordinary tourist trip. While in Japan, she will stay with host families, go to schools with her host brothers and sisters, and have a unique chance to put all that she has learned to practical use.
This trip will no doubt open up and expand her understanding of the world and the potential for her place in it. After this trip, Samara will continue studying Japanese in middle school and high school.
The total cost of the trip is around $7,000. We have already purchased the airfare and are asking for donations to help with Samara's transportation, lodging, and meals. Over the past few years, Samara has saved more than $400 from birthdays, Christmas, recycling cans, and allowance money. She even had a lemonade stand last summer.
Her dedication inspired us to make this trip a reality. By organizing this campaign we are inviting our community to share their support for Samara and the profound impact this trip will have on her life and the person she is becoming.
Any donation is significant and will contribute to her experience. If you are able to donate, please send us your address so Samara can write you a thank you note.
With gratitude.
