Hello everyone,
As most of you know, my little sister Samantha has had a tough year.
In February, her doctor found a 9cm tumor on her left ovary and that's where her difficult journey began. She was brought in to discuss the tumor with her doctor, where he stated he wanted to do a partial hysterectomy so that she would not have to go through menopause so early in life. She just turned 30 in April.
A week later, they called to schedule the surgery and set it for April 23rd. The tumor then began growing rapidly. She started reaching out to her doctor frequently because the pain had become so unbearable that she could not function in her day-to-day life, let alone be able to keep her job. The doctor ignored her cries for help.
She started going to the ER to get pain medicine because her doctor was of no help. She became dependent on her pain medicines just to be able to get up to go to the bathroom.
Then the surgery date finally arrived, and the doctor attempted to treat the tumor laparoscopically. He very quickly realized it was not possible to treat it that way. The tumor at this point was 22 cm. The doctor then caused internal bleeding, which landed her in the hospital for 3 days.
She was referred to another doctor. This new doctor was very concerned for the condition my sister was in and thankfully got her in for surgery on May 9th. The day of the surgery, the tumor was 31cm. She underwent a rather extensive surgery which resulted in a full hysterectomy, an appendectomy, and also had to remove her omentum along with some lymph nodes. She then spent 5 more days in the hospital.
Her lymph nodes were sent out for pathology and came back positive for Stage 3 Germ Cell Cancer. June 9th, she started her first round of chemo.
Due to all of this, she has not been able to work. Unfortunately, the bills don't take into consideration that you have cancer before they land in your mailbox. She's fallen behind, and it's becoming more and more of a burden.
My hope with this GoFundMe is that we can all come together and help make this very difficult journey a little easier for her. She is trying to get disability or cash assistance but its a slow process.
My sister is a warrior and is so deserving of any help we could give her.
Besides monetary help, we also welcome all of the prayers that you have. I know God can move mountains, and I've put all my trust in Him to help carry her through.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.
Any donations will be used towards my sisters housing expenses, gas getting to and from chemo and vehicle Maintenace.
