My name is Samantha. I am a 50-year-old transgender woman who has been engaged in transition for over three years. Prior to beginning this process, I faced significant challenges with self-identity. Throughout my youth, I experienced persistent feelings of incongruence regarding my physical body. These sentiments continued for many years during my service in the US Army, subsequent overseas contracting assignments, and now as I serve in a public sector role.

Approximately six years ago, I began my journey by conducting extensive research on the process of coming out to friends, family, and colleagues. Three years ago, I made a significant decision to start Hormone Replacement Therapy, which gradually resulted in positive changes to my physical health and overall well-being. On 15 October 2023, I officially came out and was met with considerable support. I was pleasantly surprised by the acceptance shown by many of my friends, although I did experience the loss of some relationships; nonetheless, I gained more connections than I lost.

While my initial appearance was adequate, over the past few years I have developed into a confident woman. Numerous aspects of my life have improved, including a notable improvement in my mental health following my transition. I have become less reclusive and more sociable and positive than before. Throughout this period, I have implemented various adjustments and lifestyle changes and continue to explore and refine my personal style. Overall, my family has provided steadfast support, and I am fortunate to have a strong network of supportive friends. Although not everyone agrees with my decisions and I have lost valued friendships, I hope for continued respect regarding my right to self-expression.

My journey toward personal authenticity continues, and I am now preparing to begin the next chapter in becoming my true self. This process presents challenges, particularly given current circumstances. The funds raised will support medical procedures that align my physical appearance with my identity. Specifically, I am seeking assistance to afford breast augmentation as part of my treatment for gender dysphoria. These resources will directly contribute to achieving this essential goal.
