Hello Everyone,
In April, I had developed internal hemorrhoids and got treated for them in May. In August, I was still having issues and went back to the doctor that banded my two prolapsed hemerroids. He cauterized the entire area, including a third one that was not big enough to band. Almost immediately, I felt terrible and went downhill with my health rapidly. I couldn't get out of bed, work or do anything. In two weeks, I lost 11 pounds, could barely walk and couldn't move my right arm. I went to the emergency room, where I was admitted. I had a severe infection that was almost septic, and the emergency room doctor said that I had a seven inch hematoma. The surgeons said that the hematoma would absorb by itself, I didn't need surgery and I would 100% recover. They said it would be only a couple of months.
After a five day stay, I still was bedridden. I had to go back to the emergency room within a week and was admitted again. I was blocked and impacted. I was given Go Lightly so I could pass the fecal matter. Again, I was told I would be fine and that my medical condition was very minor. Six weeks later, I was still in grave pain and my issues had not changed. In fact, they were getting worse. In my Facebook post, I explained how my primary care physician was suspect and ordered an MRI. That's when they found the cancer.
Yesterday, (10/17/2020), I met with my surgeon for my diagnosis and how we will be treating my Colorectal Cancer. I am at stage 3 and will be starting my battle tomorrow, (10/19/2020), with emergency colostomy surgery to bypass my colon and rectum. My tumor is 4.2 inches by 2 inches and completely blocking my rectum. It is infultrating my overies and coming up the back of my uterus. Two weeks after my colostomy surgery, I will be starting Chemotherapy and Radiation to shrink the tumor before surgery. I will also have to have a full hysterectomy. The surgeon anticipates that the Chemo will be a six to seven week process. Then, I have surgery to remove the tumor, and hysterectomy, followed by more Chemotherapy and Radiation. It's going to be a long road but that's my journey.
I have had to use my savings to suppliment to my income since I have not been able to work consistently. I take care of my 80 year old mother, who has dementia and has a limited income. I make sure that her bills are paid, she's fed, clean and safe in her home. I have a doggie with special needs and a salon that is also my responsibility. I am the sole caretaker for my mother, myself and Tessa. I am single and my family consists of just the three of us. Because of my upcoming journey with the cancer, I will not be able to sustain working at the level I need to be able to take care of all of this. While I would rather not ask for help, I need to since the road is going to be long and I really need your help. This experience is humbling, scary and unsure. The money donated would be applied to bills for my mother and myself for the next few months. Your donations will be greatly appreciated.
I sincerely thank you,
Love, Samantha
