Hello, my name is Cindi Castillo, and I'm raising funds for my cousin, Freyja Samantha Vizcarra Magdaleno, who is 3 years old. Samantha was diagnosed with stage 2 Rett syndrome, which involves the rapid loss of acquired skills such as speaking, walking, and crawling, and virtually all of her motor movements. What is Rett syndrome? It is a genetic neurological and developmental disorder that affects the way the brain develops. This disorder causes the progressive loss of motor and speech skills. In the first stage of birth, babies with Rett syndrome develop as expected during the first six months of life. These babies lose skills they previously had, such as the ability to crawl, walk, communicate, or use their hands. Over time, children with Rett syndrome have increasing problems using the muscles that control movement, coordination, and communication. Rett syndrome can also cause seizures and mental disabilities, as well as unusual hand movements, among other symptoms. Despite this diagnosis, Samantha is a happy, strong girl, and very loved by her family. She attends multiple therapies every week that help her maintain and improve her quality of life, such as:
- Hydrotherapy
- Rehabilitation Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Nutrition
- Equine Therapy
We are looking for every option to help our little Samantha. Currently, there is treatment toward a cure in the United States in Dallas, Texas, at the Taysha Gene Therapies laboratory, which specializes in this syndrome. Ten treatments have already been performed, all of which have been successful. However, the cost of this treatment is $180,000. That's why we are seeking your help for Samantha, so we can make her lifestyle as vibrant as possible and watch her grow and progress healthily. Hola, mi nombre es Cindi Castillo y estoy recaudando fondos para mi prima Freyja Samantha Vizcarra Magdaleno de 3 años. Samantha fue diagnosticada con el síndrome Rett etapa #2 el cual consta de la pérdida rápida de sus habilidades adquiridas como hablar, caminar, gatear prácticamente todos sus movimientos motores. ¿Qué es el síndrome Rett? Es un trastorno genético neurológico y de desarrollo que afecta la forma en que el cerebro se desarrolla. Este trastorno provoca la pérdida progresiva de las capacidades motoras y del habla. En la primera etapa del nacimiento de los bebés que tienen el síndrome de Rett se desarrollan según lo esperado durante los primeros seis meses de vida. Estos bebés pierden habilidades que tenían anteriormente, como la habilidad de gatear, caminar, comunicarse o usar las manos. Solo que el costo de este tratamiento es de 180,000 dólares.
