Hi I’m Sam (they/them), a trans nonbinary tattooer/business owner and I’m getting gender affirming top surgery in October!
I feel really weird asking for help (let alone financial help), but a few people have asked how they can help care for myself and Airynn after my surgery. And while the Leo moon in me wants to say “we (I) don’t need any help! I’m not nervous at all, and everything’s fine!”, my pisces sun is allowing myself to ask for and accept help. Whether that be words of encouragement, a sweet treat, some company, meals, or financial support, I really appreciate all forms.
Despite months of preparation, the financial responsibility of surgery combined with everyday bills, while taking time off to recover without PTO is daunting. I am blessed to have Airynn who will also be taking time off to take care of me and is obviously eager to do so. I am confident she would take the best care of me and our household all on her own, but I don’t want that responsibility to all fall on her.
So if you feel the urge to help lighten the load a little and financially is the way you choose to do that, I appreciate it so much and am so grateful for any amount of support. If you would like to offer meals or company and know where I live or work, feel free to contact me or Airynn directly to set something up. If you would rather donate directly to me, you can find me on Venmo @sam-boucher-2 .
I really truly appreciate and am so grateful for all the love and support I have already received and am so so excited (and literally so scared and nervous) for my surgery. I am so beyond grateful to live in a state where I have the privilege to receive gender affirming medical care.
When there are so many other things you could be putting your money toward, I encourage you to take a percentage of what you were going to give to me, and give it to another charity like Equality Maine, Maine Trans Net, Maine Meeds, Planned Parenthood or one of the many families trapped and starving in Gaza.
I love you all so much, thank you
